Local doctors
We have a strong working partnership with our local doctors practice, . We encourage students who are living on campus or moving to the immediate vicinity to register with a GP before you arrive, or on arrival.

Dentists
You should make an appointment for a dental check-up every 12 months. Some dentists will delete you from their list of registered patients if you do not make an appointment within a certain period of time and you'll have to register again.
There are three types of dentist surgery that you can choose from:
- surgeries that treat NHS patients
- surgeries that treat private patients
- surgeries that treat both NHS and private patients

Derriford Hospital
neighbours the University and has an Emergency Department.
We strongly recommend students consider their need before attending the Emergency Department as there may be better and faster routes to get treatment.
The Cumberland Urgent Treatment Centre in Devonport is open every day (08:00 - 18:00) to treat patients with an injury which isn’t life-threatening, but still requires urgent treatment.
Their team of nurse practitioners have undertaken specialist training and are able to assess, diagnose and treat patients of all ages. They also have x-ray facilities open 09:00 - 18:00.
